Public relations is not nearly as complicated as it may sound, but do not underestimate the importance of it. There are many different areas that someone with a public relations background may do, but for the most part, they facilitate communication between the organization that they represent and all the publics that the given organization works with. A public may be anyone from those that work within the same organization to customers, and everything in between. They know the ins and outs of the organization and tend to be skilled in explaining it to those not so familiar with it in a way that can be understood. They also work to make things sound catchy and be informative. Professionals in the field of public relations may write press releases or articles and often times be asked to sort things out in person. In today's society, many professionals will also be involved in marketing type things as well.
